Job Description:

  • EMPLOYEE shall complete the tasks, obligations, and responsibilities as an experienced K-9 Handlers for Explosive Detection and Deterrence at Target Field, Home of the Minnesota Twins Baseball Club for 81 Regular season Home Games and potential Post-Season Games and other Special Events
  • Average of 5 hours per game/event worked
  • Candidate must possess a minimum of 2 year's documented experience handling an Explosive Detection Dog in an operational environment

Position Responsibilities:

Canine Handlers are to work as part of a team to deter and detect the introduction of explosive into and around Target Field. The Canine Handler performs their duties while commanding a trained explosive working dog that has met certification standards. Teams will be required to search cargo for the client to identify explosive threats. Handler will be responsible for maintaining training records and to maintain certification. Handler will be responsible for housing, care and maintenance of assigned canine. Handler may be required to work additional hours as directed.

Job Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizen
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Must maintain all job related certifications, airport required security clearances and employment standards, including, but not limited to, maintaining and complying with the employment standards contained in any and all regulations, and pamphlets. Must have the ability to transport and house assigned K9.

 Essential Physical Requirements:

  • Dynamically lift (start at floor in static position and lift through task) an actual dog, or a reasonable facsimile thereof, weighing approximately 90 lbs. to a height up to 60".
  • Dynamically lift an actual crate, or a reasonable facsimile thereof, with or without an actual dog or a reasonable facsimile, to a height up to 60".
  • Dynamically lift an actual 40 lb. dog food bag up to 30" and dump into a container.
  • Carry an actual dog or a reasonable facsimile weighing up to 90 lbs. for a distance of 25'.
  • Kneel (on one or both knees) and squat for a sustained period up to at least one - two minutes.

 

Training & Skills:

Candidate must successfully complete 2-3 week Explosive Detection K9 Handlers Course in Moyock, NC and certify to NAPWDA standards prior to deployment to permanent duty station.
