Job Description:

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Teach FDC Crewmember Operations on the AFATDS, Centaur, CMP-P and Degraded FDC equipment. Instructor shall teach operations on all FDC related equipment
  • Prepare training materials; develop training aids, set up classrooms, and deliver instruction
  • Update the Program of Instruction (POI) and lesson plans as required by the 13J Lifecycle Program Manager
  • Maintain proficiency in Tactical and Operational procedures on all Fire Direction Center (FDC) systems
  • Instruct and evaluate student’s tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTP) under field, simulated, and classroom conditions
  • Revise lesson plans to meet training requirements and integrate approved tactics, techniques, and procedures into the Program of Instruction (POI)
  • Responsible for operator level PMCS of equipment prior to utilization for instructional purposes
  • Maintain instructor certification standards to include being formally evaluated quarterly
  • Understand and apply the Military Decision Making Process (MDMP)


Experience and Basic Qualifications:       


  • Understand FDC operations and emplacement of all field artillery weapon systems
  • Qualified on and demonstrate the proper employment and operation of the listed Army equipment and systems associated with the MOS:
    • Computer System Digital: AN/GHyK-63
    • Gen Set: 5KW 50/60HZ
    • Plotting Board Indirect Fire: M19
    • Radio Sets: VRC-92F, VRC, VRC-92F
    • Truck Cargo: 5 Ton
    • Carrier Command Post
  • Minimum of (3) years of experience as a 13J Fire Control Specialist;
  • Must be instructor certified or have skills and knowledge of previous 043-13J10 (i.e., experience as a 13D or 13P) to serve in lieu of the 13J MOS experience
  • (1) year of experience with the Army equipment within the 13M MOS to perform MOS related tasks
  • Experience in the organization, planning, and development of training courses
  • Graduate of the FATDS Specialist Course or the MLRS Fire Direction Specialist Course
  • Graduate of the 13D/P/J Advanced Leaders Course (ALC) or Basic Non-Commissioned Officers Course (BNOC)




  • Must be able to physically lift over 100 pounds and stand while instructing for long periods of time
  • Licensed to operate the military vehicles corresponding to his or her specifically assigned MOS within 90 days of hire
  • Able to possess a secret clearance
  • Able to obtain a passport and able to travel
